Take a cue from barbed wire, maybe? Spike the bottom of the wheel well that would be used to pull the car up? Lesson learned.

I've looked at stuff online and they don't make much sense to me, none of them say they have a motion sensor. All I want is that if the car is tilted or moved it will trigger the panic horn.
Almost every single alarm system (even cheap ones), have motion sensor.

I tested my alarm's motion detector a little while back. Alarm set, window down ... I had to flail about the interior with my arm for what seemed like a LONG time before the alarm tripped.
Where is the factory alarm's motion sensor located? Could the steering wheel partially block its 'view' from the driver's side window?

Really?!? Okay thanks CUBE. I'll look into them tomorrow when I'm not swamped with writing papers.

Mark, the Parts/Maintenance Manager at scAlexandria told me that the sensor is in the gearshift housing (I had thought it was those two set of screen-like holes by the mirror).

I don't think the Smart factory alarm has a motion sensor that senses the car moving. I was told by a service tech that it has a motion sensor that senses if someone reaches inside the car. So you could move the car and not set off the alarm. Hope that helps.

Now I'm confused, because I was under the impression that there is another sensor somewhere in the back, aimed at the ground, to prevent the car from being moved (provided it has the theft alarm option). And there is a way to disarm it for towing or ferry transport.

"Tow-away Protection" is mentioned on the thumbnail in:

I don't have the factory alarm, but I did purchase an aftermarket from the dealer. It does not have a motion detector, but if someone bangs the car it will go off, and I can set the sensitivity to whatever. The alarm guy set it to be pretty tough bang, cause I have cats so wouldn't want a cat jumping on the car (which they never do, cause there is no hood or trunk) and setting off the alarm.

I did park it once in Hollywood, and when I got back to my car I saw the alarm had gone off. The blue light was flashing like crazy, and the horn honked 3 times letting me know it did go off. The only evidence I saw of someone having touched my car were the fliers stuck under the wipers, I did a test of lifting the wipers and letting them down with out care and sure enough, it was a big enough thump to set off the alarm. GRR I hate people that litter my car with fliers

Anyway, the alarm I bought from the dealer is made by KARR, and I don't remember how much I paid for it.

Back in 1951, when a sophomore in high school, I had a bright red 1949 Renault 4CV, which I bought for $75. One night, I stayed in town at my grandmother's house and, the next morning, found my car on her porch. It took half the next morning to wiggle it down.
Here's that car, if you don't know it: Renault 4CV - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hey Jeff, sorry to hear about your car being moved. Some people just can`t leave other people`s property alone.
