You could buy a Gorilla motorcycle alarm for $100 and it would take you less than 2 hrs to install. They have a tilt, shock, and electrical interupt feature. If you jostle the car it will give off a warning beep, try to tilt it and it will alarm for a minumum of 1 minute and then rearm.
Adding it cannot affect your warranty, as long as it is installed correctly.
I've had mine for over 3 years now. Gives you peace of mind.
I'm wondering if the person who was sitting inside his smart with the factory installed alarm didn't have it go off because he was inside.
Now I haven't tried picking mine up, but I was told if someone picked it up and moved it it would go off. I have done the arm through the window and it worked.
Do you see your beam of light?? If you break the beam doesn't it go off? I'd think picking it up would break the beam unless you can keep it perfectly level.
Well I installed the Gorilla Alarm. If the Smart is shaken, or tilted it WILL go off. If one sits inside with it on it also goes off. IF a gust of wind hits it, it will NOT go off. Looks like I got an alarm on my smart! Thanks smart142 for the suggestion.
Also the weekend has arrived, we will see what happens. (I hope nothing )
