Another question, wouldn't buffing be a little more "permanent" than a liquid?
If so, what's the procedure to buffing?
Heck, it's just one scratch I doubt anyone would charge me a fortune to buff it out?
It depends. You want to remove the scratch, not just fill it. There's a difference between products that are intended to fill light scratches and those that are intended to remove it. The liquids that I mentioned earlier are abrasives and will remove material rather than fill in.
Ghdfdfhfygdsahddzbntfh!!!! It's much much much worse than I thought!
I got some of that Meguiars stuff and it revealed my worst nightmare, the scratch is waaaay past the clearcoat. In some places I can see the black panel in the scratch.
Looks like I'll have to live with it...Next step is waiting for my dad to drop my second key by (when I closed the rear window I suddenly realized that my key was still inside the car!!!!)

I don't think this will help you because of your color but a Sharpie will easily hide scratches .I touched up my brabus and it held up fine, wasn't even noticed during multiple inspections. I have used them in the past as well.
Upon arrival at school today, I notice this white mark on my tailgate:
I'm also ruling out shopping carts as the bumper/valence would've taken some damage too but there's nothing. I guess either someone clipped my tail with their mirror or just wanted to scratch my car.
So, I assume the scratch is limited to the clearcoat.
Now how do I get rid of the scratch???
Back to your original post.
Obviously your initial assumptions were "best case." You have since reported that the scratch is well beyond the clear coat and through the paint into the black plastic probably the result of some jealous person?
Probably looking at body work to the tune of $300ish after they sand, fill prep, paint and clearcoat the panel.
You said it best - Ghdfdfhfygdsahddzbntfh!!!! X 10!

Did you do that to the car by accident, when you installed your exhaust. Very strange place for a large mark like to be. Looks like a nick towards the middle. Very deep too. I'd just get a new panel for the rear, or put some kind of actual size decal over it. Looks like someone walk by it with a large backpack. You car is going to really get torn up, in a school setting, if it happen there.
I made sure I paid close attention to my environment during the install...this mark appeared on the car yesterfat...it's towards the right top corner of the panel.
The direction (as well as the "grain") of the marking suggests a jealous somebody swiped the car as they walked by. It's way too deep to have been done by a backpack...in order to get all the way through to the black underneath there had to be some pressure, like dragging a key.
