90 mph by gps, which is 93 mph indicated. This is where the governor is set. I assume it would go faster down a big hill......

How does the car feel at that speed? Stable? or floaty?
How many RPM's were you at?

It felt fine, I mean, I wouldn't have wanted to sneeze, but it was OK. Not floaty, the front didn't feel light. I don't recall the RPM, but I suspect that it will go faster in 4th if the governor was disabled in the ECU due to the extreme overdrive in 5th.

Westfield- What happens then the governor sets in? Does the engine quit or does it just stop accelerating? I've had mine over 85, but am not anxious to experience the Governator!

Mine just felt like it ran out of horsepower, not like hitting a rev limiter...

These cars have a drive by wire throttle so the ECU can just act as if you have stopped asking for more fuel at the set speed. This is not a "hard" limiter that cuts ignition to all cylinders, nor is it a "soft" limiter that progressively cuts ignition to one and then more cylinders either. It acts on the fuel delivery. Actually it would be an interesting experiment to try driving down a long hill and see if it will go faster than the set speed under any circumstances, upon reflection, I think that it might not.
The limiters I have experienced are Rev limiters and are crude compared to the smart ECU. Those will just keep the engine from exceeding a set RPM not matter what the gear. This one seems to do that in the lower gears, but also has an input from the speedometer too. Don't know why I would be surprised: it is a smart car after all.

I did 93mph. It drove fine, but I was hoping my arm didn't begin to twitch. It was around 4500rpm (+/- 200rpm)

It took awhile to go from 85 to 93, and once I got there it basically felt like it was almost out of power.

Then, when I remover the governor it kicked into gear 6 and my GPS said I was going 117mph at a top speed. This had an RPM of 6200.
