Smart Center Hartford has ordered a passenger side seatbelt retractor for my car. They'll have my car until it comes in. I don't need this car and would rather have this thing fixed for good before I see it again.
I feel sorry for people who are buying these as their only car!

Hello fellow Smarties. I bought my Passion Coupe last Friday and the passenger airbag light stayed on. The dealership asked me to come in on Monday morning and have their service department fix it. Apparently, the sensor was defective and they had to order a new one from Germany. Two week wait. I sure enjoyed driving my new car for two days. I guess, it's just hurry up and wait! Oh Well.

2 Weeks CYA.

KR. The air bag lights come on often on our cars. The dealer is probably holding up your car strictly to CYA.

Most of the time It's the seat belt retractor on the passenger seat. But mine even lit up when the stop light switch failed.

Not saying YOU should drive the car (more CYA) but we continued to drive ours until all the problems were sorted out. A2Jack

Hi a2jack,
Thanks for the response. I agree with your assessment. They gave me a loaner, but it's not the same. I want my car!!!

SRS Light on.....

Looks like a flaw in the seatbelt tensioner......mine is being replaced under warranty.

There are 2 occurances of this at my dealer alone.......parts are in short supply so that seems to indicate a pervasive issue.

The reason for a VIN is to place what they call a "VOR", or "Vehicle Off Road" order. The explanation I got is that if they order it on the once a week stock order that they are allowed, it can take up to 2 weeks to see the part. If they "VOR" the part, they can order it that day and if it's avaiable at the warehoue, they will see it in less than a week. But they also get charged shipping which they told me they would pass on to the customer.

My recent SRS incident was resolved with no parts required - the problem was a loose electrical connector in the passenger airbag assembly. It was discovered during the PDI.

The SRS light in our Cabrio came on yesterday. They car has 950 miles on it. I can turn the car off and the light we stay off for about 5 minutes, then come back on. Guess I will call the dealer tomorrow.
