Seems to me the next design change should include making the top of the sunscreen reflective - smart missed it the first time around IMHO.

ha ha - not really, but I have to take it down when I open the shade. Not perfect, but not bad.

I'll bet any after market reflective sun screen replacement would be kinda spendy.

For being around for 10 years, you would have thought smart would have this worked out. Or don't they get sun in Europe?

The car is sold all over the world, including Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey - very sunny (and hot) places in the summer. In the UK, the sunscreen has a photo of the sun on the bottom side, just so they don't forget what it looks like.

Maybe Smart needs to take the Sun roof off as standard equipment and make it a solid roof or make it a removeable soldid panel

The sun beating down on my Passion roof was unbearable even driving which forced me to turn the air down lower. I solved the problem by going to Asel Art in Plano and found a piece of posterboard with a gold reflective material on one side. It cost me $5.48.

Cut it to 31 1/4 inches by 25 inches. It fits against the window, does not flutter, and totally blocks the sun and heat from coming in. When you want to see the stars above, you can just pull it out and place behind your seats. The best part is it does not interfere with the sunshade.

Right now I have one of those round spring loaded windshield screens in my roof but this sounds like a great idea.

I'm German born and raised (living and working in America). Trust me when I say this. If you see brown on our skin it's not from the sun. It's rust. ;)

Here is a product I found. What do you guys think ?

Roll-On Window Shade

The "Cool Shade" Roll-On Window Screens provide ultimate solar protection. The window screens block both UVA and UVB radiation. Not only does this make the vehicle's interior many degrees cooler, it protects leather from cracking and velour fabric from fading.

The screens are wrapped around a foam core when not in use. When you're ready to install, just roll them onto the glass. They apply completely smooth, with no creases or bubbles. They also stay in place with static cling. Want to remove them? Simply peel-off and store under the seat, or move to another window.

Providing year-round protection from the sun’s glare, Cool Shades make a world of difference. They can be used where larger, suction-cupped shades won't fit. They're completely safe to use, and will not block the driver's view of the road.

$4.99
· Fits all cars
· 13" x 17 5/8"
· Rolls on smoothly
· No folds or creases
· Adheres by static cling
· Removable & reusable
· See through tint, does not block visibility

Just a reminder from another thread:
Quote:
Makrolon AG2677 PC is claimed to block UVA, UVB & UVC. The polycarbonate roof is a blend of Makrolon and Bayer Bayblend* DP T95 MF. The unique formula helped create the largest roof of it's type used in any production vehicle, 13 sq. ft.
If my memory doesn't fail me, I think the the Bayer™ Makrolon® Webasto made filters 95% of UVA & B...
