sunshade problem

I'm getting the impression from the Smart Car dealer that this sunshade problem is a world wide issue. Mine wont function (and now it's got a tear in it), but at least they got it closed. All the dealer can say is "we expect them soon & you're not the only one with the problem". Has anyone contacted corporate headquarters or the factory to get the scoop on this? I can't believe a company like Mercedes would install the piece of crap like that sunshade. It's like a cheap window shade. I'm told the newer one will be of better quality. I'm not shy, just can't find whom to contact. Thanks, Ron

It is true - it is a problem and dealer is the only option. Although I think one of the vendors on this site might have a solution. It looks like a sunshade that is held up with suction cups - and can really block out the sun.

It does seem to be a problem for many. Here's a link to the discussion of others' experiences and some DIY suggestions:

And, here's a link to a discussion of a possible recall:

Hope it helps.
