Survey from smart

I got a E-mail today asking if I would fill out a survey about why I canceled my reservation. I filled it out and did mention that I got a smart orphan and that I thought the only bad thing about the process from start to finish was the erratic DDE.

I got a email about my canceled order too. I put in one of comments that I took a orphan. It's been over 4 months since I canceled.

Sounds like a standard email. When I got my orphan, I got the same email. That was nearly a year ago! Can't believe I've had my Poppy that long! I do love her.

Me, too. Just completed it a few minutes ago, AAMOF. Couldn't find a buyer for the orphan and not willing to take a $5K hit on a car with only 3000 miles. . . the only offer I had. Slow delivery and lousy DDE didn't make the wait much fun either . . .

Ditto to all of the above. I was singing that Kinks song over and over:

"So tired, tired of waiting, tired of waiting for you-oo-oo."

Almost at 5k on the odometer and loving my smart. Yesterday, a worker at a gardening center asked me how I like that car, and I said "it's the car of my dreams!" And he said, "Well why don't I see more of them around? There's just two in Canton." And I said, "well geeze, it's only been in the states a year and a half." And proceeded to load in six 40 lb bags of mulch into the back of the smart and could've fit in 6 more.

Back to the survey, I wonder what percentage will be of people who canceled to buy an orphan?

I'm one of those people that got the survey today. Waited only one month - and took ownership of an '08 Demo and cancelled my order. No regrets at this point.

A survey/poll on this forum would be a nice idea.

We're going to continue to love our Smarts as the prediction is a BIG jump in gas prices. Arabs are refusing our (failing) US dollar for purchasing their oil. Foreign exchange rate is hurting our purchasing power in consumer goods.

I got the survey recently on a cancelled car. I suggested that more smart authorized service centers (not necessarily sales) were necessary to compete with new micros that will have a larger service infrastructure (iQ, 500). There should be something in every state; create an agreement with an existing MB dealer to do service/warranty work.

I also suggested that more drivetrain choices would be good.
