My wife and I stopped by the Smart center at Tysons Corner on Saturday. We had previously arranged a test drive with Lance who's one of the sales associates. He was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. He mentioned that he's also a reservation holder.. We took out a silver Smart and drove it around for a while. We made sure to take in some highway driving on the beltway. I had it up to around 75 MPH driving by and passing some 18 wheelers. Other than a little buffeting from the wind it wasn't bad. The smart was more stable than I expected. I drove it around Tyson's for a bit and got a feel for the acceleration and handling. It felt quicker than I remembered from the roadshow. The transmission does require some getting used to, but I had it shifting smoothly after a little practice. This smart had power steering and it felt extremely easy to steer. I drove it over some bumpy roads and definitely felt them but it's not too bad. It had leather interior and the fit and finish seemed pretty good. One thing we noticed that we didn't like is the carpet. It's thin and looks pretty cheap. I'm definitely going to buy rubber mats for ours when it arrives. Otherwise, we were very pleased with our test drive. This was my wife's first time driving in a smart. She really liked it. So, we're sold! We can't wait for our's to arrive!
