Is That Thing Electric?

OK, so it finally happened. I'm sitting at the gas pump ciphering my fuel mileage when the lady at the next pump asked me if the smart was an electric car. I only regret that I didn't have a snappy come-back (smart ass reply) ready. Even after I told her that it was gas powered, 3 cylinder, blah, blah, blah, her response was "So the batteries are up here in front?" pointing to the bonnet. Um, yea, that's correct. Buh bye.

I got that question so many times while I had a fuel nozzle in the car that I now say 'It's electric but I am so addicted to gas I just can't give it up cold turkey'!.....

A lot of people who ask if it is electric are really asking in their stupid roundabout way, "Is that a HYBRID?". A lot of times that are what they are getting at - be easy on them.

When I get my Smart I'm *really* tempted to glue a large electrical outlet (like the kind for a dryer) on the side or back of the car. That'll REALLY confuse people.

There are water cars

I wish they would make these things "for real". No charging your car, paying out the for gas. Just through some Deer Park in and go.

Maybe one day

Yes, it's electric. Unfortunately I left the spare battery at home, that's why I have to put gas in it now to keep it going...

The spare battery is the second half of the car, on backorder. It extends the range of the push-down-pull-back model by 50 miles.

OH MAN! I could of run with that. If she gave me water I'd of not opened the gas cap but opened the gas door and poured it in there (it would of come out the drain hole but I bet she wouldn't of noticed it)
