The dealers prefer the original reservation NOT be canceled, even if the orphan adopter doesn't want the reserved car. To cancel the reservation will interrupt the flow of cars to the US. It does potentially create another orphan, but better that, than to have a delay in delivery stream. More potential for the smart centers to succeed, if we can keep them coming in droves.

eegads - are we actually having this conversation again? "Orphan adopters are evil unless they forfeit their reservation."

How boring and how "euro"

Sorry, this old argument doesn't work for me. I've had my orphan (top dollar paid) for 6 months. My reserved car is still 60 - 120 days off. I intend to take delivery of my reserved car and sell my (used) orphan for whatever the market will bare. Truthfully, as the market is I don't expect to make a profit on this. I just expect to sell a used car and buy a new car. What's wrong with that? It's so American!

Cheers!

Great Tip for Selling a Car

Go to your busiest upscale grocery early in the morning and park your car in the first spot away from the store...at the entrance to the parking lot with the most traffic. Have it outfitted with a For Sale sign, a price and a phone number. Then wait. The store won't mess with you because your car is out of the way and they don't know if you are shopping or not. Lots of traffic turnover and if the price is right, it won't last a week.

Or post a 'For Sale' sign with a fairly high price and 'OBO' to find out what the market will bear. I doubt you will see what the "market will bare" so early in the morning in such a public place.

Passion with all the options. Silver with metallic silver tridion. 3M Chiprotect. About 800 miles. Extended warranty.

Opinions? May be looking to sell end of October. I'm in Seattle, WA btw.

Or.........list it on the SCOA website under the marketplace....those that love the car and want one can come to you!!

Never mind - just read backwards - saw that you already did!!

Not anymore

I am currently selling mine on EBAY and put ten (10) other SMARTS on my watchlist to track activity. They are currently breaking even at about 16k-17k for a Passion depending on the options. I believe this is due to the 10% drop in gas prices.
I currently have my hidden (no longer a secret) reserve at exactly what I invested in car and still no takers. Highest bid is at $15k with only 2 days left.
