Thumping question

I noticed that after I start the car, the first 5 or 10 feet I drive forward, I hear a thumping or bumping. I feel it more than hear it actually. From the transmission maybe? Doesnt do it after that until I restart the car. I assume its "normal" but wondering what it actually is.

Are you talking about the self test of the ABS system? It is located near the front left tire.

I'll buy the self-test explanation. Its always the same so I figured it was doing something like that. If it only did it now and then, I'd worry.

In my case, I hear/feel it right after backing up when I start going forward again.

Have it from the day one (feels like bad CV joint), I believe it is normal.

Guys. Same with our car until we started backing up fast and putting on the brakes firmly. This will reset the self adjusting rear brake shoes.

We now do this from time to time and the problem is solved. A2Jack.
