Tinted Windows

Just thought I would ask if anyone that has taken delivery on their smart, if they have had their windows tinted yet.
I plan to have mine tinted within the first week of my delivery, which I hope is by the end of March.
I've configured a white passion with black tridion cell. I think the tint will look great and blend in great with the tridion cell and panorama roof!!

If we ever get our car (1173), I'm going to have it done right away. Black with Black tridion.

Mine are tinted.

20% on side and rear windows. The 20% is a great match for the panorama roof as well.

Tint and faded interior

I have the red interior in my passion. I'm a little concerned about the fabric that covers the dash fading. Anyone else with this same concern. Would tinting the windows help?

Not unless you are going to tint the front window.

You also live in Oregon so I really wouldn't worry about it that much.

Hi Mikie, Does the sun shine in Oregon? ;) Guess I can ask, living in western WA. Hopefully there is some UV protection in the sun roof and windshield.
Classy smart

There's an interesting speciality tinting film which also blocks most infrared and therefore a lot of damaging heat. I've used it architecturally but was considering it for the smart. Unlike tinting to reduce light, this product is almost clear.

V-Kool

A good choice for protection.

Please consider the safety aspects of tinting the side and rear windows. At night you will have difficulty seeing pedestrians and vehicles out of those windows. I had window tinting on my car and removed it after nearly taking out a rear corner while parrallel parking. Looks great, keeps the interior cooler in the summer, but dangerous.

Kags,

Yours sure looks nice.

I agree. Most states have laws dealing with how dark the tint can be. I work with law enforcement and I do have a suggestion for all that get really dark tint. In car stops from the policmans point of view, he likes to see who is in the vehicle. As this is a small car its not a major issue, but in larger cars if he can not visually see who the occupants are or how many, he gets nervous. Not a good thing. So anyway follow your state laws on the tinting so you dont have problems.
