Poor thing was cancelled before anybody got to see it. Mostly because the SUV concept was to go along with the roadster and forfour, which had their plug pulled that year.
I think it could be a great basis for a ForFour. Other car companies have cars based on the same platform but with different names. GM did it with its different divisions.
I saw the A class in Europe and thought it would get here before the Smart because it seats four. Glad the Smart came first. I think the A class would have had a tougher time making a dent because it would be the high priced competitor to cars like the Yaris or Fit. You could argue amenities and quality and MB badge for prestige, but when the only perceived differentiation is price, I think the A wouldn't have had much success.
Smart, on the other hand, is nothing but different.
Is there a hand crank on the side that plays pop goes the weasel? I wanna turn the handle, please, please, can I, Please?....
