Tire Pressure Sensor

On the way to breakfeast this morning I noticed the Low Tire Pressure Warning Indicator was illuminated. The car was driving normally and so when we got to the restaurant I did a visual inspection of the tires and every thing looked ok. I drove on to work and checked the pressure in all the tires and the right rear had only 30 psi, I pulled the tire and there was a large nail in the tread-face of the tire.

The tire is at the tire shop being repaired and I will reinstall it as soon as smart center Tulsa calls me back with the torque specs for the lug-nuts.

The Pressure Warning System worked very well and warned me long before I would have noticed the low tire.

I had already ordered a spare-tire, steel wheel, jack, and lug-wrench but they are not here yet.

The real, unabbridged, Euro 451 Operators Instructions. I know that 81 f-p sounds like a lot, but that's what is says in bold text - 110 NM.

No that is not a lot of torque for lugs. I have a hard time beliving that smart did not publish the information in the US owners manual.

Thanks for the information.

I'm guessing that all the technical stuff was left out so the US owner would be obliged to "support your local smart center." Except for a lot of people the smart center is not "local."

This may have been covered in other posts, but where did you order the spare tire, etc.?

175/55 Fronts

For those switching from 155/60s to 175/55s on the front (like the Euro pulse), the recommended front pressure is 1.8 bar or 26 psi.

Maybe this belongs in a 17" wheel discussion, but does anyone have a pair of rear wheels (al) that they want to sell? I want to put the rear size tires on my front.

I know, "dealers have them", but heck they don't even stock fragile clips for the rockers, much less wheels - but now if you want a high priced accesory, watch out they have those.
