Tire Warrenty

Hello,

Two days ago I got a call from the Bloomfield Hills Smart Center. I was informed that my car is on its way. Naturally, they asked me how I had planned on paying for the car. They also indicated that I could purchase a tire/wheel warrenty and extend the 24 month warrenty. The tire/wheel warrenty is about $400. It is good for 5 years. Has anyone else purchased this warrenty and what does it cover regarding tire wear/damage and wheel replacement?

If I purchase this warrenty, do they give you a year to extend the original warrenty?

Do a search on the forums. A lot of ppl have had problems with the way the warranty works. Myself, I rather buy the extra tire in a bag with a jack and just change my tire if I get a flat. They are selling for like250 - 350 at RR smart center. Not sure if the rest of the centers are doing the same. Then toss it behind the passenger seat. It sort of fits, but from what ppl have said. The hassel of dealing with the warranty ppl is not worth the warranty. So I am buying the tire when I pick up my car.

I paid for the tire insurance and it paid for itself quickly. Michigan roads stink, my wife hit a large pot hole on 475 and it bent two rims and ripped one tire open. The Bloomfield dealership had the car flat bedded to the dealership and replaced both rims and tires (that they had in stock).

Isn't the tire warranty handled at/by the Smart dealership? Unless this is a question of whether or not you live near a dealership, i.e., if you live near one then they handle your tire problems via the warranty but if you don't live near one then YOU have to get your tires fixed and submit paperwork, etc.,. If this is how it works, then IMO if you live near a dealership it's a better deal than if you don't, no?

Also, I think some people are confused about the towing/roadside and the tire warranty, as those are two seperate things.

The warranty is handled by a 3rd party company... not the dealerships... IMO it's worth it... we've had 2 tires replaced already.

...we got the warranty, both ,tire and extended...
...the tire paid off about 3 weeks ago...it covered the flat bed ride to the dealer and new tire...it did not cover the pressure monitor ~100$...

Tire Warranty

I bought the tire warranty and it already paid for itself because of the _____________ Michigan roads.
