James.
Why you running at maximum capacity???? Sticker on door says 29 PSI from and 36 PSI rear.

All I can add to this is my brother's Nissan Altima that came with Continentals and just passed 58000 miles, and will need tires by summers end. He has a lead foot.

Thanks for all the replies.

It's looks like this will turn out to be a combination of faults.
A. High speed driving. Yes, we do run 80-85 here on our freeways.
B. Very slightly out of alignment.
C. lower quality OEM tires,
D.Maybe even our Michigan cold climate (as Mike T points to low mileage Canadian tires).

The alignment was done by the Toyota dealer from the numbers fed them by Bloomfield Smart. So no conflict there. We go by the door tag on TP and watch it closely. A2Jack.

I just called Smart USA (which forwarded me to my local smart dealer) and my dealer told me that the Smart car doesn't require any form of rotation or flip of the tires...

Just run em until their dead I guess...

I even questioned him, asking what about going left right or flipping them on the rim, he said it wasn't necessary to do so...
