Took my Smart to the fair......

I live in a very rural area of WV. This weekend was the annual 'fair' type event. So I jumped in the Smart and went to town. Over two days the folks I talked to were so enthusiastic about asking questions and wanting to see and know more about my little car. A few folks spent 15 minutes or so talking to me....and I enjoyed it a bunch. One thing I liked doing was sitting near my car and listening to the comments of those walking by or stopping and looking at the car. Far and away most comments were very positive. I did learn a few new reasons why a person should NOT own a Smart. One couple stopped and looked at my car. The man said loud and clear 'I don't care what kinda mileage it gets...I aint given up the Yukon!'....then' Can you imagine if you pulled out in front of a speedin semi what would happen!?!?!'...I for one am glad this guy DOESN'T want a Smart....I don't want him in this club!!

Overall the two days were great and exposed the Smart car to a lot of people and the reaction was overwhelmingly positive! I am still having too much fun!

Not smart enough for a smart, that's clear!

Quick comeback . . . in 20/20 Hindsight

Just tell em that 'SMART' people don't pull out in front of semis. Just "YUKON of" people do.

GMan

(Just in case you didn't get it . . . Just "you kind of" people. . . )

I've been taking my Smart to shows versus the street rod or Corvette. More interaction with people than the other cars combined PLUS it gets four times the mileage - just gets there slower.

Dave. Do you contact the fair people and go right on to the grounds? Or do you set up in the parking lot?

Details would be approached as I too would get a kick out of bring[ng our car to the FAIR!

It was not as much a fair as a street festival maybe? The streets were open and being a old school downtown there is street side parking and benches along the street. Some streets blocked off for stages etc but a open atmosphere as such.

I'd rather go to the circus and hang out with the clowns.

Just got back from making a run to the Ft. Lewis shoppette. Pulled into the parking lot with my windows down and, in unison......screaming from the other side of the parking lot, were a bunch of teenagers sitting at a table outside............."WE LOVE YOUR CAR!!!!!" So.........the reason I mention this.........it's amazing to me how these little cars seem to span the generation gap. The reactions that you get from every age group is phenomenal. From really, really young kids..........to pre-teens and teens, up to the elderly. As well as different ethnic groups! People either LOVE this car, or they HATE it. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground! Still more smiles per mile than any other car out there!!

Very little reaction here in Michigan. I've had the car since May and used to watch people from a distance when parked in a lot out of concern for my car. I found that most people walked right on by without even a glance. Given the state of the auto industry here, I think lack of attention may be a good thing.
