Total Width Of smart?

The 451 smart car is officially 61.4 inches wide. Does this include the side-view mirrors?

Just measured it on mine. I measured 69.5" wingtip to wingtip. I was by myself - so ±0.5"

BandSofC, what the hell are you talking about "wingtip to wingtip". You speak as though this is the new airbus. Oh yeah, it is. Yoo Hoo!!! What a fat smartie. Thanks for the lol. Regina

The question about width reminded me... on Friday, coming home from work, the narrow width of my smart allowed me to squeeze by a LONG line of cars in gridlocked traffic to make a right-hand turn. Other cars moved into position behind me to try the same maneuver, but were like squealing fat pigs stuck in a fence. My svelte smart saved me a lot of time coming home that day!

Steven, I did that too in NYC traffic and that says a lot. I was a bit scared but tried it anyway. It sure did felt cool and it was an even better feeling leaving the fat pigs behind! Thanks for sharing, Regina

Remember to spray teflon on the sides of the smart each day....now if only the mirrors could automatically fold flat.

I'm still holding off until I get my force field. I could definitely squeeze through anything and of course the mirrors would fold flat automatically.

Many thanks, BandSofC; I truly appreciate your help! I need to put up a garage for my smart before it arrives later this year, and need to consider the size of the opening.

Motorcycles and micro-cars are indeed superb at getting out of “gridlock”. A number of years ago I was mired in totally non-moving traffic (due to an accident far ahead), just a couple of blocks from a turn-off which was free. The only escape was the sidewalk, which was very narrow, with a brick wall abutting the far side, and signs and lamp posts on the near side. Fortunately, I was driving an original Mini at the time, and it just fit on the sidewalk.

Note that other drivers in large vehicles tend to become very angry when they see things like this, because they can not do the same!

Overall vehicle width (exterior rear view mirrors folded in) 61.4in(1559mm)
