Trading In

My reserved car wont be here for another good 4-6 months but I had a question for you all.

Me and my girlfriend currenty have a 2002 V6 convertible Mustang. KBB says that it should be worth at least 5k in its current condition (needs a new side mirror)

Im just curious how that whole process works as Ive never bought a new car from a dealership before.

Generally if your trade is in near perfect condition, the dealer will offer you low KBB. Since smart centers generally have more buyers than they can handle, they do not bargin on the trade in values offered. Good Luck!! BTW - replace the mirror and sell your car yourself.

vasaline

you can either sell the mustang yourself for a decent price or.....

take a jar of vasaline with you to the dealer when you go to trade in your vehicle.

If the dealer sees the vasoline, he will put sand in it. The dealer's theme song is: "Who put the sand in the vasoline or You always hurt the one you love".

Why not try CarMax. I have dealt with them regarding trading a car in, and they're reasonable. They evaluate your car and give you a price that's good for a certain number of days (like 3 or 5 days). It doesn't matter whether you buy a car from them or not. The price I received was more than a dealer would have given me, but less if I sold it myself. It's been years, but give them a shot.

780 Grapevine Hwy, Hurst TX

And no, I don't work for them.

It may not of helped the guy in Tampa but it may have just helped me.

The Car Max Dealer in Milwalkee is next to the Smart dealer. I could get a price for my trade in from them before going to smart. Walking in with another price would be helpfull.

I suggest like the others.... sell it yourself.....

The dealer will cetainly not give KBB

If your mirror is missing - my guess is other visible damage exists

Plus - winter is coming..... a dealer that isn't Ford (and even Ford themselves) aren't going to want to site on a convertible... it'll get shipped to an auction and they know they'll get nothing for it there - er-go you get nothing....

Sit on the Ford until next Spring and flog it to some kid that just wants something 'cool' (erm... note the quotes )

Cheers
