transfer ownership at delivery time?

I've seen it discussed here every so often, But I am thinking about abandoning my Smart. Scheduled delivery April - June 2009: blue fortwo passion, leather seats, and some options. Will be delivered to the Birmingham Smart Center. Don't know if they allow transferance like some of the dealers in Texas. I am not looking to make a huge profit. $500 over would probably be fair to save someone a long wait time. I just got tired of waiting and bought a mini Cooper. I am loving the cooper so much, that I probably won't pick up the Smart car. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Due to natural disaster.

What un-natural transfers are happening?

Transfer of delivered reservation supposedely could happen for spouses, maybe immediate family only.
I predicted arranged marriages, even adoption (the real kind).
In the event of a reservers death, a Weekend at Bernies scenario was predicted.

Have there been many 'illegitimate' transfers at any smartcenter

Can I sell my confirmation spot?
and some others on here as well have reported transfering ownership at purchase point, after purchase point before leaving dealership, or to anyone who walks in with reservation holder.
hadn't checked these forums in awhile though to see if people are still doing it.
and no, its never too early to laugh at other peoples misfortune.

Honestly I don't know of a sure way to sell a 'spot' or transfer, from what I have seen dealers (with the rare exception perhaps), Smart or otherwise, will not go through with this and choose to refund the deposit and sell to someone else instead, esp with in demand cars.

These sort of allocation spot/order sales have been so problematic when it comes to the dealers honoring them I have seen car forums and auction/sales sites ban ads for cars not in possession. The only sure way I know of for you to resell would be to take delivery of the car and all unless you can reach a certain, preferably in writing, agreement to transfer with your dealer. Best of luck with it
