Yep, it'll run if you let it !

When I have a "smart naysayer" in the passenger seat for the first time, I always "punch it" so it'll take off quickly. The first thing they ALWAYS say is, "Whoa !! This little piece of crap takes off !! I never thought it would !!"

Won't go into PARK

I have just begun having an issue with my Smartie. She won't go into PARK. Kinda bad since you can't take the key out...or restart the car unless it is in PARK. She is currently safe my garage until Saturday when she has an appointment at the Smart dealership.

Can anyone give me a clue as to what the problem is? She is an 08 Passion. I took deliver on 24Jan08. She has 31000 miles on her.

Sounds like the old shifter lube issue from last year.

If you cant get it to physically move to park then try lubing the shifter. Hear is a Video

Just so you know, you can start the car in Neutral. Its important to remember just in case that kid in the passenger seat plays with the key, Just pop it into N and restart the car while moving.

Soo... is there any come out a solution on the car wont go in reverse what parts are been replace for the fix of wont shift to reverse back to forward?

As I understand this is an issue on grease that they use on production of o8 model and they recall with Mb parts grease. I have same problem on 30k mile so I don't have the warranty any more...

At 21K miles and 17 months, my clutch plate part # A-001-252-66-05 replaced for known problem with reverse gear not engaging.

Although I was under warranty, they said the problem was known by smartUSA.
