transportation when in for repairs

Is there any policy with Smart regarding getting a loaner car or free transport home if the car is brought in for warranty repairs (overnight)? I would live over 50 miles from the nearest dealership and have no one to bring me back if I leave the car (most of my neighbors don't drive that far... in their 80's and friends are at work during business hours). Do the extended warranties provide for this?

I have a similar problem. Don't know the "official" answer but suspect it is up to each dealer. I plan to use Enterprise car rental, they pick you up (free) and quoted $52/day, half on weekends.

No each indevidual dealer has there own policy, if this important to you check with tour local dealer. Some extended warrantiees provide repacement transprtation others do not. You can get coverage on your insurance poicy for this. Hope that helps

As posted elsewhere already, I am in this situation right now. The part my car needs is coming from Germany and could take up to 2 weeks. My Smart has to stay there (safety issue). They gave me a loaner car from the local Enterprise without my even asking for it.

Unrelated, I'm taking the loaner car back today even though my Smart isn't ready yet. I can't stand the loaner.

At smartcenter Virginia Beach VA I asked them what their loaner program was and at first they said "You can probably get a loaner at the toyota dealership next door." later on at a different time I asked again and they said "We don't have one."

Although the following points don't all apply at smartcenter Virginia Beach VA It is sad to think that when you purchase a vehicle from some automotive dealerships that after the purchase the customer must fight for any warranty work, loaner vehicle, automotive information, parts, service, etc... Sometimes you may even get the impression that once you have purchased your vehicle and come back to the same dealership you get the feeling that they are wondering why you are there we have you money now and why don't you just go away...

All smart dealerships ARE NOT the same.

My best dealership experience was at a Tysinger Mercedes, Dodge, Hyundai. at Hampton, VA. The sales people were excellent. The vehicle price and financing was reasonable and accommodating to my wants and needs. Not only would they come pickup my vehicle for service where ever I may be but they will wash and should it take more than one day to service my automobile I get a nice clean rental vehicle all at no cost and this service last as long as I own the automobile!!! Now it is also true that all Mercedes dealerships are not the same either but my next and probably next, next vehicle will come from Tysinger.

There is much to be said and valued about 'after' the sale of a vehicle.
