is it true the ScanGauge II

Hey All

I've been hearing (indirectly) that the ScanGauge II works on the 451.

For all you people who want to tune their driving for the best MPG this is a GREAT tool for that, and it's cheap money http://www.scangauge.com/

It does other things too that are of use, I'm just bummed it doesn't work on the 450 (sure would of saved me a lot of time and money)

Already half a dozen members with it and reporting their results and all things SGII related seek out Dave777's excellent posts on using it.

Looks like your option is the X-Gauge: http://www.welte-engineering.ch/

Nope on the X Gauge

Old smart

The X Gauge does not work on the 450 US G&K Smart ether.

Only the MDC trip computer works on the US G&K 450 and that is rather costly (due to exchange rates).

Installed my Scan Gauge II last night, took less than 30 min. and it was easy to set-up. Now if I just had time to drive it....

Russ, what is the install procedure? BTW, I'll be swapping my silver panels for whitie-tighties like yours... nice combo!

It comes with a manual and Dave777 has an install thread.
It plugs in the OBD2 port and works right away.
Push a few buttons to set engine and gas tank size and then set the correction factor after a tank of gas.
I set my display to:
0 blue
3 red
1 green
and it is similar to the smart dash color.

I put mine in last weekend and love it. Mounted it under the lock/unlock/heated seats switch control panel by making a simple bracket. I made a dozen more if anyone wants to mount it that way they are available for low bucks. Makes the install look very professional.....Got another post with more info and pics in Dave777's post on ScanGauge.......PM me.

Steven,

I mounted mine on the left under the vent. I'm the right height where I can see it except when I turn and then I don't care if I'm getting ultra mileage or not. It will stay out of the sun, tucks in like it belongs and leaves a space to still put stuff.

I put 4 layers of 3M 3/4" double sided super adhesive tape on. It needed the four to get it tall enough to clear the head of the screw that hangs down. I don't trust the Velcro and my experience with 3M is great. There is an area just ahead of where the fabric of the dash stops so it makes a great surface to hold to.

I took someone elses tip and put a pull wire through the small opening at the top of the storage tray, to the right of the fuse box and the left of the steering column. Then taped the Scan Gauge to the pull wire and brought it back. Just watch the clearance to the steering shaft, tie wrap the excess wire to the fabric covered thing next to the column and it's all done but the programming.

I like the white, real pure. I think the all white Barabus is really sharp. I might start with my rocker panels, but I don't like the rear pan or the front spoiler so will be searching for good aftermarket ones for those.
