Garage
Ah, got for 2 smarts and park them end to end in the garage. That is what I plan to do later when I eventually get a cabrio.

ludlowlou....

Sir or Ma'am.... it is not greedy to make a Smart purchase investment ..... folks who buy anything and then resell it at a higher price are usually thought of as wise, crafty, smart, Roger Penske is making a profit one every car sold, why should you not do the same?

It would not surprise me that the Smart car would be the only one for 50 miles in the Port Townsend area ( My first wife was form your town)

No doubt if she was used lightly for a few weeks or months she could sit on any corner with a for sale sign asking 1 or 2 thou more then you paid... if this assaults your "greed" thoughts ... just sell it so you end up with zero out of pocket expense for using a cool little car for a brief time.

Excessive fees

I have resisted commenting on this thread because I am finding that i might be a real "sucker". I paid $21670 for my Passion Cariolet Fortwo. It has every option except the leather and heated seats and a tachometer. I bought a 3 year warranty and a Silver Package option.

BTW, my car was an "orphan". I got a call from the dealership who knew I had registered for one in December 07. When they called a few weeks ago, I purchased the orphan with all of the fees. In the meantime, my conformation for my original car came in, since I never cancelled it, and I ordered it. I ordered one with Every Option...And, the price was lower. I brought this to the attention of the dealer and this was their response:

The following is a breakdown of the prices of both Vehicles. We do not add any additional costs to the MSRP on the orphans. The one you purchased actually has more options than the one you ordered. Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Purchased smart Ordered Smart

MSRP 17425.00 18120.00 w/options

Destination 645.00 645.00

Taxes 1062.34 1087.20

Silver Package 1998.00

Fees 568.25 568.25

Total 21698.59 20420.45

Thanks,

Larry

Basically, one does not think they have a choice on the "extras". And, one cannot "deal" over the fees. SO, this is not a cheap car.

silver option is the difference - that was a dealer add-on. What did the silver option consist of? chrome wheels i'm assuming, anything else?

Well said Karl. It would have been worth it to me as well. But of course there were no Orphans around when we started the long wait. Debra: Enjoy your car.
