Not really - most of us knew exactly what we were getting. They are marketing it as an automated manual transmission here, as well.

I have read on here of people that get a 1 mile test drive in the smart car before they buy, and the fact that the American smart car has the prindle type auto setup as opposed to the more manual look setup of the European, leads me to believe there was some skullduggery involved.
If you know about cars you will know that it is a semi-manual box, but not everybody knows enough to know what that means.

Same, been "stalking" the site for ideas for a while, where my CF idea has come from. Some good modding scene over here whilst the car isn't very old!

So another oddity we have just discussed is a feint high pitched beep which comes on when your foot is on the footbrake. Do the american cars get this too? As it's only some of the UK cars

Prior to the cars being released, we had a rolling road show around the US where people could take the cars out for a circuit... this was before the dealers opened and cars started getting here. For over a year now, dealers have had cars on their lots that could be taken out on a traditional test drive.

In fact, the cars that were used on the road show (other than the very last stop, which I was fortunate to be able to attend) were Euro spec cars - down to the shifter.
