The ultimate anti-theft device for the Smart Car

Hello Everyone,

Last year I visited a company in Europe. So far I believe that they are the manufacturer of the most innovative anti-theft devices for automobiles. The Smart Car model is easy to install and very affordable. It is not electronic, it's not a tracking device. It basically blocks your steering and you control it with a key assembly. Your car will never leave where parked it. Guaranteed!!!! The beauty of this is that I received a sample this week. Once I establish pricing I will be posting what the unit looks like. I live in Montreal Canada and I hope that I can be of service. I am in the theft prevention industry.

Thats good to know. What I didn't know, is the Smart Car on the list of cars that are stolen alot has anyone had one stolen? It's not like the parts can be use on any other car than a Smart Car

When I was purchasing my smart, one of the things the dealer wanted to sell me was a LoJack system.

I nearly fell out of my chair with laughter.

LoJack ? On a smart ? C'mon !!!

I doubt smarts are high on the list of vehicles to steal. Body parts are cheap from the DEALER, ain't like there is much need for them. The engine isn't a Hemi, heck, it's smaller than most motorcycles !!

Most thugs would be embarrassed to be caught IN a smart, much less steal one !

Let's face facts guys. We love our smarts, but the rest of the world just smiles at us, not much danger of theft going on here......

FYI, my insurance company (USAA) considers the smart's standard electronic "immobilizer" sufficient to qualify for a passive anti-theft device discount.

In the US, probably. Though we don't have statistics.
In France, the smart fortwo was the most stolen vehicle in past years. This has changed this year. According to the weekly "Auto Plus", the most popular car is now the Renault Twingo. smart drops to the second place...

But maybe those who use the smart as a toad would be interested so they don't have to bungie the steering wheel.

I was told by my dealer that trunk monkey was not available for the smart. "No Trunk" he says.
