Um, thought the emissions were better.

I remember reading that because of where the cat. converter is, the emissions were better, but check this pic I took saturday. It says that the smart is slightly worse than the average car. Any comments?

It appears the only pic in the album.

"The smart fortwo is also classified as an Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) on account of its extremely low exhaust emissions. The catalytic converter is positioned close to the engine for a quick response. An electric pump blows fresh air into the exhaust port when the engine is cold to almost completely oxidize the carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC) and render them harmless."

Thanks for making me get it. Im way too lazy sometimes. ;)

Jedi, I'm cornfused. That picture is rating the smart with ~all~ American cars, and showing the smart just about even in emissions? (Sorry for being so dense )

The one on top is the Smart. It is taking up more bars than the average car. The more space it takes up, the more pollutants it expels. It is in the note at the bottom. Sorry for the bad pic, thats my phone.

My issue is there are A LOT of SUVs and Trucks on the road. And this is only slightly WORSE than that average?

shaking my head too.

I read that the carbon print is a 12 for the smart. I'll go try to find the scoop. I believe it extends to the production of the smart as well as it's operation (emissions), not sure.

If this is true, than it might qualify for Arizona's Car Pool Lane.

But the window sticker bar graph is for smog, so how are they figuring it - just ozone levels I believe?

Thanks for bringing this up. I was confused from that being on my sticker as well.
