Unusual Parking

OK, can't find the earlier thread that talked about unusual or strangest parking. I had said I was going to try mine in an end slot at the parking garage but sideways instead of straight in. I tried it this morning and someone in the office walked up to me and asked if I had parked sideways, so I was outed.

You need to dind another smartie to park next to you, or at least a motorcycle.

Knowing your luck, some a hole would pull their car in and make it so you could not open your door to get in. That is the only problem I see with that. I probably would park like that but make sure I was out more close to the end of the parking space. How you use the space is your right. If you can park sideways, then that is your right. You have the tiny car.

But if done on public property rather than private that "right" can get a ticket. That's why parking garages are more fun than street parking!

All I got was the comment from a co-worker who noticed the parking job.

No one from the lot management said anything. What makes it work is the end space where no one can pull in front of me. There was some space on the passenger side, so if someone had taken a dislike to my parking and pulled up to my door, I could have slipped in that way. But look at how little space it takes compared with the car next to me! I think I might have fit 3 Smarts in the space sideways.

There is another Smart owner in the building, but his wife drives the Smart and he drives his regular ride. With two Smarts in the space, I think I'd have made a case to the lot management that we should park for half price.

Half car, half price? Makes sense to me.

I've parked like this in private parking lots before, and did so routinely at work. For most of the summer the bikers started parking on purpose at the end-slot, out near the end, so I could pull in to the front most part of the space when I came in. It worked out great, since most bikers don't like to park near the front of the space due to the oil spots that form there from normal cars leaking. (Apparently it's bad for tires?)

With the Smart at the front of the slot, the bikes would be less likley to have a vehicle run into them since they the slot was empty.
