Unusual question (people ask)

I also have the "Pull to Inflate" handle on my rear bumper. While most get the joke, even young kids, I had one woman looking at it as I walked up. The conversation went something like this:

Her: Is this your car ?
Me: Yes it is.
Her: (Pointing to rear bumper) What does that handle do ?
Me: Nothing, it's a joke.
Her: I don't get it.
Me: The car is so small, so, pull to inflate, like on a life raft.
Her: But it doesn't DO anything ?
Me: No. It's a joke. Just for fun.
Her: (walking away, shaking her head) I don't understand.....

I get asked "what happens if you get hit by a semi?" as if their Camry would hold up to one. And how often do semis run into cars anyway.



I have been asked the "is it an electric car" before. I just tell them I am filling it up with electric juice.

How fast does it go?

How much does it cost?
Where's the dealer?
Who makes it?
How can you fit your groceries in there? (I think that is a comment on my weight..)
Where's the engine?
Do you take it on trips?

That's what I can think of off the top of my head...there are more...many more.

I get that question a lot, and that reply is my exact one. Now i did have a associate at one of the h. depots i work at ask me "Why is your car called a Smart car is it like Einstein? Does it know the equation of two plus two?"
The guy owns a Ford F-150 and a Mustang, and is a true Smart ****

Like gstreetcomic, I enjoy the "Do you like it?" question. From most of them, I get the feeling they expect a negative response, and I'm really happy to enthusiastically say "I love it!"

Only a couple of times has anyone asked me why it's called a smart. And, I was so happy to tell them it is short for Swatch Mercedes Art.

I've had all the common questions. A few oddballs come to mind though ...

Does it have a heater (or sometimes air conditioner). For some reason, some people don't seem to think it is a REAL car.

Are you comfortable? (from a woman sitting several feet away at a traffic light)

And, perhaps the most bizarre of all wasn't a question, but a request. The day after I took delivery, a guy at a traffic light offered me $20 to 'look at your car'. I started a thread about that one.
