Updated post on sunshade problem

After reading throughout this thread, I would like to post the following. Does no one know whom to contact @ the top management level so we can get this resolved? Here's my updated entry. Ron

The Germans conquered most of Europe during WW2. They shot rockets @ England. They build nice cars (Mercedes, BMW's, Porches, etc). And they can't figure out how to build a decent friggin sunshade for a Smart Car? Something is wrong here. I would love for the dealer to get rid of the damn thing on put on a hard roof, which is what I wanted in the 1st place but the Passion model didn't have that as an option. This whole thread borders on the absurd. Can you imagine some poor bast___ that owns one cause he just lost his job and he runs an ad on EBAY. "Mint condition except window shade on roof doesn't work". Bizarre!!!

you're a little late - reports from those in the know indicate that the whole assy has been redesigned and retrofit is underway or on the way.

smart Center Lincolnwood is just waiting for the replacements to come in. I'm #19 in line to have mine replaced at my dealer. My car was built June 26 and started having problems the 2nd week I had the car. I would not want a solid roof though, the see through roof is great most days.

I prefer the solid roof so I won't end up with a sunburn on my bald spot (seemingly getting bigger in area every day ).

i don't think you can burn through the panorama roof. i'm bald and fair-skinned and don't have an issue - i think the panorama blocks 99% of the UV so no burn. same with the other auto glass.
