The maximum semi-trailer length without an "over-length" permit is 53'. If you call a smart <9' long, it looks like you could load five on a tier, leaving a little space between them and some space in the rear for the elevator. So, with two tiers, maybe ten. That is more than the usual open auto racks which have 6 or 8 loading positions (a few with a 9th over the tractor).

I reqard to the Hummers. I think there will always be a dealer for them. Not to practicle for the average person, but good up north and it does have ego factor. So if ya can afford to feed it and buy it, well go for it. People still buy Bentleys and Rolls too so, there will be a market of sorts.

Ok, thanks SmartBob for the info on where I can upload (only 2) pics. A little different than what I’m use to in other forums but I guess it will do. But why only 1Mb of storage?… I know the Smart Car is tiny but that doesn’t mean the storage space (here) should be tiny too. haha JK

Here is a pic I took today of the tower… isn’t it cool! The other pic shows a Smart Car being loaded onto the elevator (which is located on the back side of the tower) that takes the cars up to their stalls. It’s actually quite convenient to switch cars on a continual bases this way.

BTW Bergstrom is a big dealer(ship) in our (Green & Gold) state and no matter how you feel about Hummers I just think it is so cool to have both these dealerships right next door to one another… this is just another unique feature of our Smart Center here in WI… I just luv it!

I would urge anyone in the Wisconsin area to stop by and meet the Smart Gang (hehe) at the Milwaukee Center… Ryan, Eric, Lyndsay & Tony. They are all very friendly and willing to help you with whatever questions you have with this new and very exciting car.

Tell-um you read about this in one of the posts by Don R on SCOA and be sure to check out my new custom all-clear (polycarbonate) engine cover (for the fortwo) that’s on display there. It’s a new product I’m just starting to make and it's going to be somewhat limited on availability at first. Please let me know what you think of it once you see it… and possibly want one.

Oh, one more thing… There is an Auto Show going on in Madison WI tomorrow (Sunday Jan 20th) and I understand that Eric (from the Milw Smart Center) will be there displaying one of their Red Cabriolets… he might have even taken the clear engine cover along but I‘m not sure of that. If you get a chance stop by and ask him to see it.

Go Pack Go!!!

BTW I can't believe this forum doesn't support uploading pics to our posts... I wonder why not. I'd share some pics of the tower here too.
Are those real, running cars? If so, I'll take one off your hands. How much for delivery to Mobile?!

Hello everyone!

What an awesome thing to have that day caught on tape! Thanks for sending me the link, Don, and for getting footage of it! We all really were giddy about the day the cars finally came! We had been watching the road for the transport since Tuesday hoping that the carriers were just really REALLY intent on getting to the stores as quickly as possible. Finally, on Friday, they came!

The shipment contained 8 total cars, 3 of which smart allocates to the stores as display units. They have to stay on the showfloors. BUT, 2 of these (a passion and a passion cab.) are earmarked as "demonstrators"...and they are active, so the loyals that visit this site and the newcomers can drive these cars a bit further than they could during the Road Show and get a feel for what the smart experience is all about!

I can't miss mentioning how FUN it is to be working with these cars and the people we meet! Like the cars themselves, the store experience thus far has been refreshingly atypical in almost every way. I've taken what I have always known about visiting a car dealership and have thrown it right out the window, as the days since we've received the car have been more like busy family gatherings at the store than anything i've ever seen before in a traditional dealership experience. People bring their children to see the cars and visit, people come to take photos, people come to test drive cars of all types, they really see that we are having as much fun as they are and they trust the small Team at the store to help them with their reservations for smarts, getting arrangements for other brands of pre-owned cars that fit what they are looking for, and sometimes just to visit to have cookies or see the smart tower! I can attribute this whole atmosphere to my Team, Lyndsay, Tony, and Erik, and to this impossible-to-predict mixture of Guests and personalities we get to see everyday.

If any of you are ever in the area or can make it to see us, we invite you to come in and visit with us. The atmosphere is fun, casual, and still, amidst all of this, productive from the business end in that the people trust and enjoy the people that are getting them their pre-owned cars...or helping them with their reservations for the smart cars!

I can't say enough how exciting this all is! I hope to see you all soon!

Ryan

PS. Yes, the cars in the tower are real, running cars! For the people who are next to take delivery, we make a point to try and put theirs at the very top!

Damn, what a cool thread! From the video, the excitement of the sales folks, seeing the elevator and tower being loaded and the WI smart enthusiasm is very exciting. Thank you very much for sharing. I love (and greatly miss) the midwestern family friendly atmosphere. Go cheese heads and sorry you didn't make it into the Super Bowl. Although I live in the NE, I was sorry that none of great teams (the Bears, Vikings, Green Bay) made it all the way this year. Anyway, you have something NJ & NYC don't have...you have a smart tower. Way to GO! Thanks again, Regina
