I haven't been on here for AGES!
Is their still a waiting list for Smart Cars?
Or can you just go into dealerships and pick one out?

I don't know about a waiting list but go to carmax.com and they have 21 for sale there. Not a bad way to buy a car if your willing to do a little driving.

Due to the economy, most dealerships have orphans: cars that had people who paid the $99 deposit but chose not to take delivery.

There's a "Smart Express" program to connect new owners with the orphan that best suits their desires.

Make an appointment with your local Smart Center and head on over! I think they have one near heaven.

Our local dealer has more than 40 cars on their lot (as of yesterday)and that includes Brabus models. They appear to be ready for sale and all a person has to do is pick out your favorite color and options from the bunch. Still some people like to order a car with only the options they want and in that case there is a wait involved.

If you want what you want and don't want to pay any extra, You can still order it and have it custom built.
Smart Express is a system that allows folks who have spoken with their dealer about what they want they can grab a matching Orphan before they are shipped to a dealer.

If your not all that picky, go talk to your local smart center and see what they have. Like every other part of the economy things have slowed down, but not enough yet for smart USA to start advertising.

Reserved mine in January should be here in a month or so.
Wasn't interested in the ones that the Dealer had.
