warning beeper volume...

...can the volume of the warning beeper be adjusted?
...reason why is that my bride's car is quite loud...you can hear it over the radio with no problems if your seat-belt is not on or if the lights are left on...on the other hand ...her other car beeper alarm is very faint...can this volume be adjusted at all?....just me..

jetfuel...not hard of hearing....just in case

Well if you could hear it loud and clear, I wouldn't say you're hard of hearing!

But you're right, when I sat in a cabrio at the Auto Show I accidentally turned on the headlights (darn stalk ) and opened the door. What a loud reminder!

Maybe related ?? If not, sorry!

Is the turn signal indicator sound adjustable? Even with nothing else running but the A/C, the clicker sound is totally drowned out. And, with strong daylight, the signal indicator light is nearly invisible. I hate to be one of those old Floridians driving down the road with my turn signal needlessly on.

BTDT !!

While changing lanes, I just press the stalk up so as to not "engage" it, change lanes and a mile or two down the road I realize that I DID engage it and my signal has been flashing the whole time !! Embarrassing to say the least.

My PT had a warning beep (quite loud) if you left your turn signal on for more than a mile. My smart will continue to flash until the bulb burns out or you shut the car off.

Even with the car sitting in the driveway, I can barely hear the "clicking" sound of the relay. The one thing they SHOULD'VE made noisy, they didn't....

They make aftermarket flasher units for motorcycles that beep LOUDLY when you turn your signal on; I wonder if they are smart adaptable ?

Aren't beeps are nagging reminders to tell you to do something that's good for you like put your seatbelt on or close the door properly or take off the E-brake. When I was a kid, if my mom couldn't shout loud enough to be heard over Led Zepp, I would have never made it to school. WAKE UP AND GET READY FOR SCHOOL!

Tell me about it, when the Beast was getting a new rear bumper our rental was a PT. It only earned 4 more mpg and it annoyed the heck out of you when you took off the safety belt or had that signal on while trying to navigate Chicago Loop traffic!

If anyone with a loud smart warning beeper volume takes their cluster apart, could you check the components around the beeper to see if it's the same beeper number (HCM1612A) and the same resistor value feeding it (101 in the photo)? This would help to figure out why one's louder. If the circuit is the same, then it's just the firmware to drive that transistor in the lower left corner.

(ignore the dust, this is a non-functional spare near my computer - I'll check my car's cluster to make sure the components are the same as this spare)

Jetfuel, place a potentiometer is series with the piezo electric driver, and adjust the intensity to the desired level.

Carl - if it's quiet and he wants to make it louder, that's going the wrong way. I'm trying to figure out if the 100 ohm resistor feeding the 115 / 200 ohm transducer is different in the louder car or if the transducer has a different resistance / impedance. A potentiometer in parallel with the 100 ohm (or shorting across the 100 ohm) could increase the volume.

Or did I recall incorrectly and there's a desire to silence the loud one?
