To wax......or not to wax?

Have you waxed you Smart? What kind of wax did you use? Were you happy with the results? SMART advice and comments appreciated.

As a matter of fact, just washed/waxed today! I use Zaino (but there are dozens of opinions on what's the best). Whatever you use, be careful not to get wax on the black plastic trim. Actually, the trim is probably impossible to avoid. So far, I'm finding Back to Black works pretty well for wax smudges on the trim.

Keeping the car clean is sooo much easier when it has a good wax job.

I would definitely wax it makes it easier to clean in the future by filling in all the microscopic peaks and valleys that dirt likes to grab on to. While your car will stay cleaner longer, you will notice that it still gets dirty when waxed. All it takes is a nice easy soap down and rinse to get the dirt off. How often you want to apply the wax is entirely up to you. Personally I do it about 2-3 times a year, 1 right before summer, 2 right before it starts to snow (helps keep salt spray and sand dust off the car) and sometimes an extra in the middle of summer (gotta let it shine baby!!!). Works out well for me, and I don't burn through wax that way!

And a $$ saving tip that car wash makers won't tell you, use dawn dish soap to wash you car, has the dirt and grime fighters in it, and it helps your car retain a sheen (it also it mild, won't harm your paint) it also cuts through disk brake dust really well...

And I never thought of WD40 for wax on the trim, but makes sense... Props LAMINI!!

I thought Dawn was a nono. It strips off wax. Am I wrong?

I use the Klasse Kit, it has a All in One and a Sealant for a deep shine. It lasted all winter here in Iowa. I just clayed the car and put another coat on this past week.

I have used dawn on many cars before. Of course this is only if I plan on waxing it at the same time, and claybar on the older cars. Usually use dawn, clay bar, hose down, dry, wax two coats, enjoy. Done this on the old T-bird a few times works great.
