West Virginia Smarts??

Took my trip to town today. Had all the normal folks asking questions....which I still enjoy and stand around and talk as long as I can. But today I was told by a number of folks that there is a red Smart now running around Lewisburg WV...I have not seen it but by chance is it anyone here?? When I brought mine home in April there were 4 Smarts total in WV ....seems we have more now.....

I was down in Lewisburg today and someone stopped to talk to me about my car. They said the have seen a red one running around town AND it was over at the McDonald's right now. YES!! I was going to meet a local Smart owner at last! I go to the McDonlald's and what do I see!?!?!? Not a red Smart as many had told me about....but a red 2 door Yaris!!

I feel like I am chasing Big Foot at times!!!

Awww. Too bad others can't tell the difference. Or maybe it really was there and had left already? I *KNOW* there are others in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. *I* just have NOT seen any others yet.

I have a red one that you might occasionally see in Mingo County, but not Lewisburg...

I work in South Charleston,WV

I have an EDD of 5-Aug-3Nov, and everyone at work knows I'm getting one. And they often tell me of sightings they saw. They like to rub it in, that I don't have mine yet. I wonder how many other people this is happening too? I've never seen a introduction to a car happen like this. I can't remember a time when someone else put a car on order, and all there fiends have to point out that they saw one. The VW Bug, mini-coooper and the Pt Cruiser didn't go throught this.

I work in Charleston and have two passions with the same EDD. It is amazing the response that the fortwo has received. I get the same treatment from my co-workers by the way. The Wells Home Furnishings blue smart is seen frequently. I saw it at Lowes at Southridge a couple weekends ago with a crowd around it.

I even have people stopping by my cube that want to look at my smart model car!

Does the MB dealer in Charleston do Warrenty work, or will we have to take it back to the dealer we bought it from?

I contacted them back in the spring and they said they could not provide warranty service. As Jeepster said, they would have to be an authorized smart dealer. But, you should be able to take it to any smart dealer, not necessarily the one it was purchased from. I think Columbus is closer and more convenient to me than Pittsburgh.

I wish Penske would allow some MB dealers to provide service, even if they can't sell the car. For smaller areas like WV, this would be a real customer service move. I don't relish the thought of a drive to Columbus or Pittsburgh with warranty problems. If the MB dealer is willing to send a tech to get smart certified and get paid for warranty/maintenance work, then I don't see a major problem. Of course, the Columbus/Pittsburgh dealers in the case of WV would probably see somewhat less warranty work.
