Weston, FL dealership marking up deliveries?

Mornin:

I anticipate delivery in a little over a month, from the Smart dealer (Rick Case) in Weston, FL. Anyone else bought from this dealership? Are they adding much aftermarket options to inflate the price? Looking forward to my triple black Cab with everything....

They shouldn't be adding anything more than your configuration-
Call them now if you are concerned
MSRP

Don't forget the "lovely" Florida Dealer's Fee?

I think you'll have to add a $499 Dealer's Fee to the MSRP, plus Tax, license, and $645 destination charge. The MSRP on the configuration was somewhat misleading, since it did not mention the dealer's fee.

I don't know if it's too late to pick it up elsewhere and enjoy a good vacation in exchange for the cost of gas getting it back to Florida. Anyway, check out the thread and enjoy your smart!

Here's what's on the smart USA site concerning prices:

Quote:
* For 2008 models. Excludes tax, title, registration, destination charge, options and other dealer fees.
It's pretty clear MSRP does not include other dealer fees.

PS - that wording changed somewhere along the line, possibly after all the furor over dealer doc fees on the SCOA forums.

"options" means customer-chosen only.
(not aftermarket, dealer-chosen options)

Yes, and don't fall for the "we tinted the windows, because everyone in Florida needs them" line.

Early on, some dealers were known for trying to force that option (at a fairly high markup) on to their customers, who found out about it when they read the break out of the charges.

Some customers objected to the charge and got the tinted windows for free or a a discounted rate, others paid the full markup for the option. I think the dealers learned their lesson and are being more upfront about it. Anyway, look out for similar tactics.

I bought an orphan Red Pure from weston in Feb. The 11,500 turned into 16,000 when i left after dealer fee, dest. fee, airconditioning, taxes and such, no radio and no tinting was offered at the time. The Manager is very good, the sales lady?? She messed up our paperwork, after returning 3 times to get it right, we still had to call Mercedes Credit to get a payment made after two months of waiting, we are still waiting for them to take the late payment off our credit report.
I do love the car! I drive it on the turnpike everday, would love to run into someone else with one. Oh yea be sure to ask for a bunch of brochures about the car....trust me you'll need them. On average i get 36-38 mpg, gotta love the flat roads!
