I thought that it looked hit in the Butt too....but the critical photos of the most damaged areas are missing.....do you have any?

I might pay the 1500...but it could be a money pit.....could make money, or it could be the fluffy little white bunny that bites your head off....

Run away.....run away!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I would be doing the work myself and I have a tow dolly to get it home. I'm just not sure how I would get it ON the tow dolly if the car is too narrow, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Why do you say the motor and transmission have probably been damaged; perhaps beyond repair. I see just the bumper cover missing. The back picture shows the impact bar isn't even bent. And BTW those portholes are all the rage now, I see them on Dodge Chargers and Honda Accords all the time around here. They aren't real, just stick-on that I'll remove.

You said that it wasn't running. I took that to mean that it wasn't operable. Smarts don't handle rear ending very well and the transmission is often damaged, especially if bumped hard from the rear while parked in reverse; as is the case with the 450. If you can't start it and test drive it, I wouldn't consider it as a profit making project. If you can drive it as is, you might want it for yourself, order your new panels in Mexico or Canada and take a driving vacation to get them, and any other necessary parts, installed. Otherwise, it would seem the market for parts from the car would be in those two countries, as I mentioned above. None will fit the 2008 451 model with the Mitzubishi engine instead of the Mercedes engine.

You can ask whatever you want, will you get it?, NO

UPDATE

The car finally went through the auction this week. I stopped at $5900 and it sold for $6000 to the next bidder. I never saw it in person so that was all I was willing to pay. No telling how high the other bidder would have gone if I kept bidding.

Thanks for the update. Amazing what someone would pay for a broken car. I wish we could hear the one-year follow-up on that little number.

Wow, $6k is insane money for a molested, damaged, non-running, unknown mileage, four year old, grey-market car considering that a brand new, US spec, improved version with a warranty is $12k.

Atikovi. Thank your lucky stars you missed that one

That dog would have ate money, and you still would have a POS.

As Smithee says, 12k will get you a good one. A2Jack
