Negotiate? Bargain? Hahhhhhh!!! I asked for one of those Smart hats they had on display and they wouldn't even give me one. They didn't even offer me 10% off. This is after I just spent $17K+ on a new car there.
Of course when I came in a few weeks later for my plates, the sales guy gave me the complimentary bottle of water , which was cool. I think they thought I was a NEW customer when I walked in .
An out of area dealer was willing to sell me an orphan, if I also purchased $3k of add ons like an extended warranty and window etching to make up for his 5% hit on selling to me, plus all their smarts came with lojack. Wouldn't have been a smart move for me to go for it. I'll wait for an in area dealer to come up with an orphan, or my reserved one in Aug '09
Full retail, all fees, no negotiating, no discounts, not even on swag. I did get a free smart ink pen, though. woohoo. ;)
It's what I expected, and I'm not disappointed. Just lighter in the wallet.
Prolly be two years before the prices come off full sticker. We'll see how the market holds up.
Well I feel like a millionaire! When I picked mine up at Bedford smartcenter, I got a rubberized keychain and a hat. Both free!!! I guess cause I was the first they delivered, plus it was all the shwag they had on hand at the time. Russ
I payed $16,900 out the door for a Pure with air, radio cd, power steering, and alarm. My Smart was an orphan and belive me the dealership was more or less telling me "don't worry if you don't want it we will sell it before we close tonight". The way these cars are sellling I'm sure they would have. For what I payed I could have got a Passion but I would have had to wait longer than a year maybe more so I bought my little Pure and am so happy I did! Lifes short and I'm going to enjoy it! And my little Pure brings me joy evertime I drive it!

He wasn't completely forthcoming with you - it's a 2% loss for selling out of the dealer's area. Glad you passed on that offer.
Orphan from Jacksonville: online starting price and online option prices + $650 for delivery. No markups, no negotiations either... but we got two rubber keychains and two bottles of smart water for our 16K (oh, and a little car to put them in). No pen, though.
