Everybody is different on this, but for us, after 40,000 miles and just over two years of driving them in St. Louis, I can tell you it will NEVER get old for us. There cannot be a more fun car to own in the country. What other car will even come close to this "problem" of people smiling at you at stopsigns (as well as when you pass them)?

The funniest response for us so far was when we were filling the tank last Saturday - the guy pumping next to us looks the car over very carefully and asks "So is that thing electric?"

"Sure - I'm just pumping gas into a ballast tank to add weight..."

I had one of the 1st GEO Trackers when they were first out and only sold in 6 states as a "test car" back in '88, I expect a similar reaction when I get my SMART.
