At what mileage will you trade/sell your Smart

Just curious. I was one of the first wave of buyers (took delivery last January). My Passion now has close to 18,000 miles on it. Should I consider replacing it at 30k, 40k, 50k?

So far, no technical issues with the car and my mileage is consistently between 44 & 46 mpg.

Honestly, with the amount of time and money in extras I've put into Drachä, I'm looking for atleast 200,000. I have 25,000 already in 9 months so I don't think it's too much to expect. Everything still looks new.

I'd say 200,000+mi
The Envoy has 130,000mi and it's still kicking like new.

It seems that the smart could last awhile.

At Six Flags: Great America (my 1st job ), they have a Plymouth Voyager (painted to look like the Mystery Machine) that has 300,000+mi on it and it sounds like it's fairly new.

So comparing to other cars, I expect a smart to be equal to its peers or even better.

So I'd probably drive mine (when I get one) until I'm unable to drive anymore.
Then I'd just pass it down to someone else in my family so they can drive it til' they can't drive anymore...

Mine will be at 729 days or 23,999miles. Whatever comes first.

No actually I am not sure. I do not want to put a date on what I am going to sell my smart. I'm still enjoying it WAY too much!

One consideration is the market for used smarts just isn't there (look at all the unsold cars on eBay and in the Marketplace forum.) Trade-in value appears to be 11 or 12K for Passion coupes, maybe a little more for Cabrios. Unless gas hits $4/gallon again used smarts, as well as orphans, will be slow sellers IMHO.

If my mileage drops below 22 or 23 mpg around town I will be selling mine. It's currently just above 30 mpg, but I'm not using the a/c in winter.

If it manages to hold around 25 or 26 like last summer, then we will dump ours when another microcar we like more comes onto the market. Whenever that may be.

How many miles do you have?
You probably haven't broken in your engine yet.

I second that one. Waited too long to treat here like some normal car you go on the lot and buy.

When My life dictates a different car is required for our family.

This can come from life changes or impresive changes from the automobile industry. Like a plug in hybrid smart that gets over 70mpg or something like that.
