What NEW options would you like to see?

I'm holding off for the 2009 model year
hoping for more available options..i guess we'll wait and see
but here are a couple of ideas from myself and other members.

Please chime in and maybe we can all address it to smart USA as feedback.

options/features:

Xenon Lights
Navigation
Adjustable Steering Wheel
Radio functionality control on steering wheel
Cruise Control
Remote Engine Starter

reversing the functionality of the shifter lever
up for"-" and down for "+" more intuitive this way as discussed in earlier threads

more tridion and exterior colors.

i'll go ahead and beat this poor dead horse a bit more.

i don't believe this car will ever come with cruise control. again, this car is not designed for the highway. it is and always has been marketed as a city car, or urban commuter. Smart will even tell you that if you ask. by adding cruise, it would confuse even more people on its intended purpose. for that reason (and an increase in liability), i don't see it happening.

i agree that a lot of people are saying that they want it, but i think that is just part of the American way of thinking. the car has never had cruise control since it's birth 10 years ago. i think if you put stuff like cruise control on it and "highway-ize" it, people will think it's a highway car and they will be very disappointed in the long run. it's a lightweight runabout car but as many people have stated, it gets thrown all over the road in high winds when driving 70mph on the highway. i don't think PAG or anybody else wants the liability when somebody sets their cruise to 80 and gets blown off the road by a freak windstorm.

haha very true...
but i intend to take my smart on some weekend getaways like 200 mile trips;)
hope it holds up well, we do have some heavy cross winds in the east coast.
hopefully if i pack enough it'll put some more weight and stability on the car...

The small size of the profile really helps with the aversion to the side winds.

I like the highway manners of the car.

I have cruise control and really like it. It has a feature that is outstanding.

I put in a four button input when leaving the car... If someone broke in, or even took my key from me and started the car, they still wouldn't be able to drive away because the 'Drive-by-wire' in the accelerator is disabled. It can't even engage the clutch.

My number one vote is for xenon headlights but then again I plan on doing this either way!

I guess I would really like to see projector lamps!

In addition to xenons (ugh...PLEASE!), I would happily pay for Keyless Go.

My Prius and my Mazda both have this feature, and it's really something that's difficult to live without once you're used to it. It's similar to getting used to keyless entry and then using a car where you have to insert the stupid key in the door, open it, and use the power lock button to let your friends in. Not the biggest deal in the world, but a great small luxury.

Steering wheel audio controls will also be very difficult to give up. As it is now, I can adjust volume, choose a source, and flip tracks on my iPod without ever having my hands leave the wheel.

Don't forget a corresponding price increase if any of these options were to be made available.
