what should I do sell or dont sell?

so I'm driving my smart and a guy comes up to me and ask if he can buy the car from me, I tell him is not for sale then he says he will give me 4 thousand over what ever I paid. I told him I would think about it. We exchange number and he has called me 2 times that he is really serous. Do I sell or do I keep?

Since he's so adamant, offer him a drive to your dealership, see if you can find a replacement for yours right away and sell him yours, or give him an opportunity to choose one that may be available then and there. At the end you'll both win. You'll get a chance to get a another car that may be better or to keep yours if it's perfectly suited; and he'll get a chance to see if he can get the one he wants. If no car is readily available, he'll know where to get one when the time comes, and you'll gain his and the dealer's considerations. Furthermore, you won't feel any greedy remorse.

Or is this a metaphorical exercise for your (our) adulation?

I would try to find another orphan from my dealer and sell him my car. If I couldn't find a replacement I would keep my car. I wouldn't want to be Smartless.

$4000 over? SELL! That's a nice profit. You can buy another orphan in a matter of weeks/months.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. If it were me, I couldn't do it. But $4K is a big number to walk away from. Deal or No Deal! Let us know what you end up doing!

My original intention was to get mine and sell it. I've since decided to keep it rather than go through the trouble of listing it for sale... That being said, if someone came up and made me that offer I'd take it.

p.s. where's Glendora?

It is just a thing... a non person, a vehicle, a commodity

being overly emotionally attached to a thing is not a rational behavior

My biggest regret in vehicle purchase and trading is not taking the $8000 profit offered for my 1993 Harley Davidson FXR I waited a years for as a soldier in Germany. I really like my FXR, and still have her BUT today she is worth a small fraction of what I paid let alone the insane offer from a German citizen way back when...DOH!

There are very few times in life you can buy some thing and trade or sell it for more then you paid....

I have been waiting to own one of these interesting smart cars for over a decade now. A over a year for PAG to deliver....

If the day I drive my new toy home, some local offers me $2K or higher then my total out the door costs..... I will turn the keys and title over to that person before they can think about their insane offer
