For 4000 over I may think about hopping on a waiting/orphan list for the next one to come by... but then again you may hate yourself for doing that too!

$4000 over is a great offer. I guess part of your consideration is what to drive if you do sell and while you wait for another smart. If you already have another vehicle then it's probably not much of an issue. Getting something to tide you over meanwhile could mean being saddled with it or taking a bath in depreciation when you sell your tide me over vehicle and get another smart. Or staying with what you get.

Basically, if it were me I wouldn't do it unless I was certain I could get another one set up the way I want without paying out the money I'd make on selling the first (which would make the whole transaction null).

Sure I could get one later, but having just got ours I am enjoying it too much, and going back to a bigger car will rule me out of those fantastic small spaces again ;)

PS; If you are in a state with sales tax, don't forget to factor that in.

For $4,000, I would have to part with my little friend and pick up another at some point. For less than that, I don't think I would be interested. I am just enjoying it too much. Since it is a third car in a two driver family, that helps as well.
