What will be the first thing you do with your Smart?

First thing I'll do is drive over to Mercedes-Benz of Omaha and find the manager who told me "there will never be a Smart dealership in Omaha... you'll have to go to St. Louis to get one."

Once I find him I'll show him what I picked up just down the street. I can't wait!

The first thing I'll do is fill it up. The dealer will probably only put a 1/4 tank in it.

So this snail slithers into a smart center with his confirmation in hand and asks to speak with the consultant who called him to pick up his #1173 Cabrio. The consultant is amazed that a talking giant snail actually bought the car and is happy to hear the snail will be paying in full with a certified check.

The snail does have one request. He is will to pay $5,000.00 extra if the dealer can put two large chrome letter "S" on the hood and tailgate in place of the smart logo. The consultant tells the snail to return in a week and it will be done.

One week later the snail inspects his car and loves the 6" high "S" the dealer installed and pays the agreed price.

The snail gets behind the wheel at the driveway, puts the car in gear and floors it cutting off traffic as he barrels down the road!

Two passersby see this. One turns to other and exclaims, "Wow, did you see that S car go?"

Put flames on it.Then some red neon lights under it, rear spoiler. Tint the windows as dark as legal. Custom black rims,with lights in the valve caps.....Drive the kid to school.

I thing the first thing we will do with the smart car is to take it for a break-in run on Old Route 66, which parallels I-55 here. Tool along on 66, watching all the SUV's racing along on 55. Very light traffic on 66 compared to the interstates these days.

Then it will be to the office, where there will be some requests for rides, I'm sure. Then kind of snicker at the gas pump.
