What's the longest drive you've taken?

I know it might not be the wisest choice of cars, but what do you think of a 2400 mile roadtrip in a fortwo? Has anyone spent 5+ hours at a time? I can't imagine it being worse than driving any other small car and probably better than most. My only worry is the ride pitching about on rough highways with such a short wheelbase.

btw, I'm considering a tacoma-LA drive with visits to the 1 and 101.

Go for it! Take the secondary roads whenever possible and enjoy the car and the drive. I've got a classic mini which I've driven from LA to SF, but of course I jumped on Hwy 1 as soon as possible. The bottom line is if you like the car and don't have to get from point A to point B in the quickest amount of time, then enjoy the journey. Just my 2 cents...

I just drove my smart from San Antonio to Houston and back today. About 400 miles total. No problems with comfort or ride. All on the I-10. Whole trip cost me about $31 in gas.

Picked up my car in Columbia, MO and drove to LA Cal 2250 miles, 21/2 days.
Enjoyed every moment of the trip. Was in LA less than 24 hours and left to go to Roseburg , OR. Was there for about 24 hours and drove back down to LA (almost 1000 miles).

Would do it all over again in a N.Y. minute.

Wow. I love my car, but after about 200 miles or so, my foot starts to hurt.

Whatever happened to the guy who was flying to New York to pick up his car and then driving it back to the West coast?

On day one I drove 350+ miles home. 95% of the time was 2 lane country roads. This car is made for the back roads. So much fun to drive. I will admit it, on the interstate, it is a bit scary when a BIG vehicle (10 or more wheels) comes up behind up at 10+ mph faster than you (even though you are 5 mph over speed limit) and tailgates.....never got any of that on the back roads. I hope to take mine on a long trip this summer after it has a few miles in it.

We drove from Denver to NW Arkansas, then to Dallas and back. Enjoyed it, but am considering having cruise control installed.
