Don't look at the averages. Look at the fact that the Indian middle class numbers in the hundreds of millions... a much larger and affluent market than here in the U.S. The averages are dragged down by the billions of untouchables.

Yes, and most Americans are wimps who are so afraid of life that they need airbags. For a commuter vehicle, I want cheap. Fun would be nice, but safety just ain't at the top of the list as long as the vehicle is reliable. If safety were an issue, I wouldn't be riding motorcycles or crossing the street as a pedestrian.
