What are you keeping in your tailgate storage compartment? Anything? Spare raincoat? Umbrella? Today's lunch?

My daughter puts her college textbooks in hers.

And then leaves her camera, Ipod and stuff on the seat. Grrrrrrr. Kids are sooo innocent. "Oh, mom, you worry too much!"

But really, I think it's a case of out of sight, out of mind. :-)

Will be keeping a couple of umbrellas, "emergency" tool kit , towel (to either dry off or to lie on if needed), small medical kit and whatever could possibly fit without too much weight...

I always keep a towel in my vehicles too. People laugh, but it comes in handy a lot. Douglas Adams said it best: Always know where your towel is!

Denny, I had the same thought; it certainly fit before I unfolded it to put on the car. After that, no way it was going in there without a lot of pushing and shoving.
