Misaligned headlights and high vehicles whose lights are high or have not been readjusted after jacking the suspension up are way more of an issue then fogs to me (and I am super light sensitive).
I commute in a lowered Ford ZX2 and drive a Mazda Miata on nice days, so just about EVERYONE'S lights are high compared to mine. I've seen plenty of misaligned fog lights pointing up to the point they look like high beams. BTW, I have fog lights on both cars, but only use them in... FOG!

I understand, having driven low sports cars (and being in a 'vert even makes it more of an issue with nothing like tint able to help cut glare), unfortunately being more exposed to lights and dazzled come with the territory of being low. Still I just haven't found that most normal wide beam fogs on normal height cars are an issue unless they've been altered. Misaligned headlamps and high vehicles/lights are as a blinding issue is so much more pervasive and common - as a matter of fact dummies driving with no lights or or just DRLs forgetting to put any lamps on is more of an issue - so it is just not a big deal from my POV.

Actually all European cars are required to have rear fogs, just like the requirement for the side repeater. I guess I am thankfull that they kept that on the car. But VERY annoyed that they the car doesnt have amber rear signals AND a rear fog. But thats the trend with Euro manufactuers now, water down the safety products for the dumb american. I can't blame them. People misuse a rear fog ALOT. As for factory fogs, I dont think they are a problem.
A tidbit of info, in some countries it is illegal to drive with them when the conditions dont require it. I was pulled over this summer driving a passat wagon in Italy coming off of the Autostrada. The guy started talking a mile a minuete in Italian, My Italian isnt that great and I made it clear that I was a dumb tourist. He just went to the front of the car and said "Quatro" and pointed at the lights, "DUE solo" I capished

I have a '05 Mazdaspeed Miata and the SUV/Truck lights bother me more than any of these "fog lights" which are actually driving lights. Fog lights are amber, driving lights are white and set low to the road. If you have never been in a Miata with a Gentex Auto-dimming mirror, you owe it to yourself to try it. I added one to my car the second month of ownership and have been very pleased with the results. I wouldn't do without it now.

I am curious how you know what they look like to other people when you are driving.

Isn't funny how so many of the things people think look cool just look lame. Around here the clowns that use their fogs all the time are often the same ones with the huge annoying sub woofers. Some of those idiots keep them on in the daylight! And they look sooo coool......NOT!!

Sometimes I think the modern definition of cool is selfish self-indulgence expressed as purposeful annoyance. LOOK AT MEEEE!!!!!!!! please?

I, for one, would be very appreciative of this information, Fredvon4.

(It's a shame that simple, inexpensive, safety-improving mods - daytime running lamps, anyone? - managed to slip through the Made for the USA production cracks.)
