I went to look at smarts today with the hope of getting a pure + ac and a radio. The dealer told me that they, a smart center, don't have any and they checked other local smart centers and none of them had any. I really don't feel like spending extra money on stuff i don't want (sunroof, heated seats, power windows, etc.). I could order one online but then i had dot pay extra for it. Anyone know where I can get a new pure in the new jersey/ Pennsylvania area. my zip code is 08865.
btw, the test drive was nice. I see what people are saying about the transmission but it wasn't bad.
Look for a used one cars.com. if you want cheap. You can get a passion, without the sunroof and heated seats too. Not standard equipment. Power windows, come with it.
New or used? The 2012s are pretty much sold; wait about a month and there should be 2013 models at your smart center. BTW, that dealer has the ability to find a smart for you and have it shipped to the dealership, assuming there is one available to your specs.

Will the prices be the same? i.e. will a 2013 pure with ac and radio cost the same as a 2012 pure with ac and radio?

Why not just get a Passion and leave off a few items? You may find you really like the power windows (standard), and don't you want A/C? Doesn't the pure lack A/C?
My Passion doesn't have heated-seats either, and I believe you can leave off the electric steering-assist. You can omit the tach/clock pods and other stuff too to keep costs down.
The pures have been difficult to keep in stock (at least in this area) due to the $99 lease special.
Have you contacted smart centre Englewood? I know they have a relatively inexpensive passion in stock as well as several pre-owned cars. It's worth stopping by to speak with Michael Hill even if the current inventory doesn't immediately appeal to you. You won't find a better dealer in the area, and Michael will help you out whether it's finding/ordering a car or making a deal on one in inventory.

i stated that I want ac and a radio. according to smart's website, a pure with both upgrades (ac and radio) is 13,580. a passion with no upgrades is 14,690. I don't feel like paying over $1,000 for a see-thru roof and power windows. I can easily reach across the car to roll the windows manually. The roof would just make it hotter in the summer and show all the bird **** on it. Plus, all the passions at the dealer already had upgrades built in like heated seats so they cost more than $15,000
I have a 2009 Pure, I would suggest going with the power windows. The window crank (at least for me) is right where your leg rests on the door. But you are right, you can reach the other side just fine to roll down the window if needed. I also can live without the panoramic roof, I figured on a Black car, it would heat up inside too much so I got the solid roof. AC and Radio are pretty much a got to have on any car.
Also, I like the solid steel wheels. Much more sturdy against potholes and those curbs that jump out at you.
Agree re power windows, I recently purchased my 2009 pure from a MB dealer for $9200 (with 9300 mi in showroom condition.) Got the extended warranty also. That was extra of course.
It has PW, AC, heated seats and standard radio. (PW and AC were essential items for me.) The standard.speakers I have, well are OK at best, but not considered all that great. Considering ways to improve audio quality. .Saw posts where people put higher quality speakers in and I will investigate that more. I mostly use the AUX input for audio from my phone or stand-alone MP3 player. Never use CD's anymore except for the one time rip to MP3. Hardly use Off air radio.
Bought Smarty for TOAD apps but find myself driving it around for short trips all the time. Have much more comfortable vehicles to drive but just love tooling around in Smarty. My wife takes it shopping even though she has her own Escalade. (Huge jump from Escalde to Smart as anyone can understand) We retired several years ago and don't have the essential daily commute that many others have to endure, so we can pick the time of our travel to miss the rush hour gaggle.
Anyway good luck on your vehicle but I stongly recommend PW and AC as "must have".
